Hello to all friends, colleagues and collaborators of Motion Dance Collective.

It is with a heavy heart to inform you that MDC will be disbanding at the end of this month. As many of you know, our director Omari Carter is a year into his new role as Assistant Professor at the University of Wisconsin-Madison and is unfortunately unable to continue to run the company from the US. He is still continuing his research of dance-film, body percussion and hip hop dance practices within the US and internationally.

Production Manager, Assistant Director and Choreographer, Anna Clifford, continues to work as a Yoga instructor and sound healer in Bermuda, London and Portugal. And after marrying Omari in July 2023, is based between Bermuda and Wisconsin.

Cinematographer, James Williams is continuing his work and life in Porto, Portugal. Where he continues to further his expertise as freelance cinematographer and Steadicam operator.

As you can imagine, distance has played a big role in this decision. Yet it is allowing each of us to continue to work on our practice, research and art in new and exciting ways.

The company would like to thank everyone whom we have danced, filmed and screened with. We cannot thank you enough for your continued support as we head into this new chapter. Since 2011, Omari has been creating work under the umbrella of the Motion Dance Collective. From our original 7 members: Omari Carter, Anna Clifford, Joshua Chester, Shae Carroll, Eshe Asante, Elena Alekseeva and Zsolti Szabó. To the terrific trio that was Omari, Anna and James. We've created 57 screendances and screened work at over 100 festivals worldwide.

And we're not done yet! More work is being created, both separately and together, and we relish in our experiences in the past, revel in our present and look forward to the future.

Love and light everyone and here's to celebrating 14 years of Motion Dance Collective.
